El portugués desequilibraba a Casquero dentro del área y se liaba a patadas con el capitán del Getafe a pesar de que éste se encontraba tendido en el suelo. Al escuchar el pitido de Delgado Ferreiro señalando el punto de penalti, Pepe lanzó la primera patada a las piernas de Casquero, la segunda fue a parar a la espalda del jugador azulón, no alcanzándole la cabeza de milagro. No contento con su salvajada, Pepe se acercó de nuevo a Casquero y le pisó en el pecho para poco después propinar un puñetazo en toda la cara a Albín. Casillas tuvo que echar literalmente del campo al portugués, que naturalmente vio la tarjeta roja directa. Incluso se pudo apreciar por televisión como Casillas le espetaba a Pepe: "Estás loco". Además, el acta arbitral refleja que al abandonar el campo Pepe se fue hacia el cuarto árbitro y le dijo "sois todos unos hijos de puta".
